Pinewood Derby

Hayden and his very first pinewood derby car.



Hayden was obsessed with Ninjago at the time and was very insistent that his car carry one of the Ninjago characters. I think he called his (and his dad's) creation "Skull Truck." He won at least one heat, dropped the car once breaking a wheel off (it was barely fixed in time for his next heat), and was very disappointed he didn't win the entire competition. Lesson learned: not to use a character in a car that creates drag. But, he definitely had one cool lookin' car! ''

Kendall on the Basketball Court

Kendall played her first season of basketball and it was great! I had a feeling this determined, feisty, aggressive, athletic first grader would have some ball skills. Here she is waiting for the game to begin, sticking to her matched opponent like glue (players defend the girl wearing the same color arm band) and taking a water break. Watching little kids play basketball is definitely one of my faves! I just need to learn how to photograph fast sports like Basketball. Most of my pictures are blurry.

Hayden's Spaghetti Dinner

One of Hayden's Cub Scout requirements to earn his Wolf badge is to make a meal for the family. He decided to make...Spaghetti! There was some help from mom (and Ragu and canned green beans.) But it was edible and fun to have Hayden work in the kitchen.
